How to Download DNA Raw Data from 23andMe

Requirements:

Know your 23andMe login and password
Have access to your email account
Have access to a secure computer with the ability to store and protect the data if you want an archival copy or delete the data after uploading to another test site or harddrive.

Instructions:

Step 1 – Login to 23andMe.com

Step 2 – Select the dropdown menu next to your name, then select Browse Raw Data

You select the dropdown menu by clicking on the down-arrow next to your name.

Step 3 – If you haven’t done this before, you’ll be taken to the Raw Data Opt-In page where you can select I Understand to see your Raw Data

Step 4 – On the Your Raw Data page, select Download

Step 5 – On the Download Raw Data page, select Submit Request

When you select Submit Request, the words should change to Submitting. If the words don’t change from Submit Request to Submitting, select Submit Request again until you see it change.

Step 6 – Login to your Email account and look for an email from 23andMe

Step 7 – Open the email from 23andMe and in the body of the email, select Download Raw Data

Step 8 – This opens a new 23andMe browser window where you will select Download Raw Data

Step 9 – The downloaded file will appear at the bottom of your browser window. Go to your Downloads directory and find and rename this file.

Step 10 – Safely archive this raw DNA data OR upload the raw DNA data to another testing site

If you want to upload this data to another DNA testing site, login to that testing site and follow their directions for uploading DNA from other test sites.[/su_box]
