“The Prerogative Court of the Archbishop of Canterbury, Primate of all England, had jurisdiction practicially throughout the Kingdom, although limited by the jurisdiction of the Archbishop of York in the Northern Counties, and it nominally embraced all testators within the Province of Canterbury who left bona notabilia exceeding 5 pounds in value in more than one Diocese of the Province, and all estates of persons deceased in parts beyond the seas.”
