The Arkansas Genealogical Society preserves heritage and genealogical material for the state of Arkansas. They  have free genealogies and family trees online, free access to some newsletters & publications, and other records available for purchase as books or CDS.

 

 

Membership at AGS

Any person interested in genealogy is encouraged to become a member by payment of dues in advance for one year. Annual dues are $25.00. This includes a year’s subscription to the society’s periodical, The Arkansas Family Historian.”

Ancestry Charts and Family Group Sheets – AGS published a series of 23 volumes of member-submitted ancestry charts and 16 volumes of family group sheets between 1975 and 1983. There are searchable indexes in pdf format.

Arkansas Ancestry Certificate Index – Since 1991 AGS has been awarding Arkansas Ancestry Certificates to those who prove their ancestry to early residents of Arkansas. This is a searchable index of the ancestor and the person to whom the certificate was awarded along with information needed to find information about the lineage at the Arkansas History Commission and in The Arkansas Family Historian.
