Connecticut Public Records Online
Below is a list of Connecticut municipalities with links to public records they offer online. This list will be updated with links to more public records online.
These records include:
-
property & land searches at Assessor (known as Commissioner of Revenue)
-
tax records at Tax
-
recorded documents at Clerk
-
and plat surveys at GIS & Mapping-sometimes we linked to Zillow’s GIS when a municipality didn’t have a GIS site. The Zillow site is not official, but gives you a good idea of the property size, etc
For genealogy and family history purposes we’ve used these resources to look up addresses of former homes, figure out when someone lived there, track the value of the real estate, & document upturns and downturns in a family’s economic situation. It’s also helpful to look up any recorded documents, probate, deeds, lawsuits to track family members & add some depth to the family history.
