The Farmington Genealogical Society in Oakland County, Michigan has some free online collections for genealogy and family history research. They have some records available only to members and membership benefits and information can be found here. They also have publications for purchase on their website including cemetery records, death records, obituaries, and tax rolls.

Free genealogy data includes:

  • a Surname database

  • Thayer-Rock Funeral Records “The Farmington Genealogical Society received permission from the Thayer-Rock Funeral Home in Farmington, Michigan, to create an index from their books of funeral records.”

  • Michigan Passenger & Crew ListsThe Farmington Genealogical Society joined with Ancestry.com two years ago to complete the “Michigan Passenger & Crew Lists, Manifests of Alien Arrivals at Port Huron, Michigan, February 1901 – December 1952” World Archives Project.  This database represents not only the crew members but passengers as well who crossed over from Canada to Port Huron, Michigan in the first half of the 20th century.”
