The University of Warsaw has a free website with digitized Polish books including a 15 volume set of the “Geographical Dictionary of the Polish Kingdom and other Slavic countries” (SGKP) which contain information on Polish parishes, history, and more. These were published between the late 1800s and early 1900s.

You’ll need to use Polish diacritics in your searches and Google Translate can help you find the proper Polish search words.

If you run into abbreviations you don’t understand you can try the Polish Genealogical Society of America’s database which includes a Polish Geographical Dictionary text translations index. You can also try the free translations at PolishRoots.
