Knitting My Tree Together is a family history blog authored by Melissa Donahoe who traces the Dolan line of her ancestry to Ireland.
“The name Dolan originates in Ireland. According to John Grenham,[i] the name originated in south County Roscommon and east County Galway, then later moved to the northern counties of Leitrim, Cavan, and Fermanagh. My grandmother and her sister travelled to Ireland in the 1980s and came back with tales of Dolans in Roscommon being “our Dolans”. In my research, our first Dolan on American soil noted his place of birth as County Fermanagh[ii] but that’s a story for another post.”
