This is a list of free Massachusetts Genealogy Records.

Some of these records have a searchable name index, others have browsable images, a few have both an index and images, and some link to individuals in the FamilySearch family tree.

This list prioritizes indexed collections, but if you can’t find your Massachusetts ancestor there, the list includes online image collections which take longer to search, but are a treasure trove of information.

Included are Massachusetts birth records, marriage records, death records, census records, former slave records, freedmen records, pension records, military records and more. We’ll continue to add more Massachusetts collections available online at FamilySearch. If you’re looking for onsite collections, visit their website & catalog.

These collections are all free to search. You’ll need to be logged in with a free FamilySearch account to search these records. It’s easy to register for a free account at FamilySearch.
