Massachusetts Vital Records Project, 1600-1850

is a set of free Massachusetts vital records online as part of a volunteer effort to transcribe Massachusetts birth, marriage, and death records from 1600 through 1850. They currently have over 2,000,000 records transcribed from over 200 Massachusetts towns. For towns with records not yet transcribed, they have over 3 million searchable records.

Searches can be made by surname or town. When you find a transcription you can select “image” and be taken to the scan of the original image and source.
