The Michigan State University Libraries have some online collections useful to family history and genealogy research including:

  • Civil War Collections, regiments, records, and papers related to Michigan citizens’ roles in the US Civil War, including, but not limited to:

  • Michigan maps, digitized

  • The Bubble “The Bubble is the first-known student publication on the Michigan State campus. It was an outgrowth of a series of bulletins written during the previous term. It was published in 1868 by Frank S. Burton, Class of 1868. A total of seven issues of The Bubble were created.”

  • Oral History Project “The project’s goal was to document the lives and careers of Michigan State University presidents, faculty, staff and trustees through audio interviews.”
