The Nevada Library Cooperative is an online repository for sixteen libraries and has digitized historic newspapers, oral histories, yearbooks, and other historical collections.

Newspapers

  • Daily Territorial Enterprise – This collection contains fully searchable newspapers dating from January 2, 1883 through December 30, 1900.
  • The Wadsworth Dispatch – This collection has one year of newspapers dating from January 4, 1893 through December 30, 1893.
  • The Free Press – This collection contains fully searchable newspapers dating from January 2, 1885 through December 28, 1901.
  • Reese River Reveille – This collection contains fully searchable newspapers from May 23, 1863 to December 31, 1887.  Also are included are the newspapers from January 1, 1907 to December 26, 1908.
  • White Pine News – This collection contains fully searchable newspapers from January 1, 1881 through December 12, 1906.  The collection also includes special Christmas editions containing a vast amount of historical information.
  • Goodsprings Gazette – This collection contains a limited number of newspapers published in 1916, 1917, 1918, and 1919.
  • Virginia Evening Bulletin – Virginia Evening Bulletin – Virginia City, Nevada published 1863-1864.  Collection contains July 06, 1863 through May 16, 1864.  It was published daily except Sunday and holidays –  publication ceased with the May 17, 1864 edition.
  • Virginia Evening Chronicle – Virginia Evening Chronicle:  Virginia City Nevada 1872-1927.  Alternative title is Virginia Chronicle.

Yearbooks

  • Humboldt County High School Yearbooks – This collection contains Winnada Humboldt County High School year books dating from 1921 through 2012.
  • West Wendover High School Yearbooks – Elko-Lander- Eureka County Library System – West Wendover Branch Library is sharing its Junior and High Schools  year books –  1997 through 2013.   This is a work in progress so keep checking for additions.
  • Austin Schools – Castelleja – Elko-Lander- Eureka County Library System – Austin Branch Library is sharing its Austin Schools Castelleja year books.  1928 through 2006 with a few missing volumes.  This is a work in progress so keep checking for additions.
  • White Pine County HS Yearbooks – White Pine County Library shares with you a collection of White Pine County High School Yearbooks.  The collection ranges from 1917 to 2012.
  • Wells High School Yearbooks – Elko-Lander- Eureka County Library System – Wells Branch Library is sharing its school year books –  1929 through 1976.   This is a work in progress so keep checking for additions.
  • Elko High School Yearbooks – Elko County Library shares with you Elko High School Year Books.  This collection ranges from 1920 to 2012.  Missing year books include the years – 1932,33,34,42,43,89,90,92,95 and 2003.
  • Marden Historical Research – Discover Humboldt County’s Historical Legacy!  J.P. Marden’s historical articles were researched through microfilm of Humboldt County Newspapers dating back to the 1800’s. These articles cover exciting and interesting history including Chinatown, robberies, mines, railroad, fires and more.  The original newspaper and date is noted at the bottom of each article.

 

Oral Histories

  • Humboldt Oral History Project – The Humboldt County Library Oral History Program currently has 57 oral histories. They are available for patrons to check out at the library and online through the CLAN system. The oral histories offer a wealth of information for patrons with first hand accounts of significant periods of history. The collection contains histories covering a wide range of experiences from the unique viewpoint of Humboldt County residents.They are also a valuable reference tool for those interested in local history and genealogy.  The collection includes but is not limited to: Basques, Native Americans, ranchers, and business owners.

 

History

  • Nevada History – This collection contains links to multiple resources providing valuable historical information about Nevada.  It is a work in progress, with additions added as discovered or recommended.
  • Marden Historical Research – Discover Humboldt County’s Historical Legacy!  J.P. Marden’s historical articles were researched through microfilm of Humboldt County Newspapers dating back to the 1800’s. These articles cover exciting and interesting history including Chinatown, robberies, mines, railroad, fires and more.  The original newspaper and date is noted at the bottom of each article.
  • Governors of Nevada – The Nevada State Archives holds approximately 100,000 photographs dating from 1865 to the present.  The photos were created by state agencies in the course of normal business and consist of cartes-de-visite, prints on paper, film and glass plate negatives, and electronic files.  Access is through an in-house database.
