This is a list of free Newfoundland and Labrador Online Genealogy Records at FamilySearch.

Included are Newfoundland and Labrador birth records, marriage records, death records, census records, military records and more. We’ll continue to add more collections available online at FamilySearch. If you’re looking for onsite collections, visit their website & catalog.

Some of these records have a searchable name index, others have browsable images, a few have both an index and images, and some link to individuals in the FamilySearch family tree.

This list prioritizes indexed collections, but if you can’t find your Newfoundland and Labrador ancestor there, the list includes online image collections which take longer to search, but have a treasure trove of information.

These collections are all free to search. You’ll need to be logged in with a free FamilySearch account to search some of these records.

How to View the Collections

  1. Some links take you straight to the collection.

  2. Other links take you to a catalog description page where you will have to select the link.

    • Look for a camera icon and select that icon

    • or look for red print and select “here”

  3. In a few cases, the collection may be in queue to be digitized and you’ll need to check back at a later date.
