Portugal Baptisms, 1570-1910 is a free collection at FamilySearch with a searchable name index for Catholic baptism records from various parts of Portugal. Baptism records are from Beja, Coimbra, Evora, Funchal, Leiria, Lisbon, Portalegre, Porto, Portugal, Setubal, and Viseu for the years 1570-1910. The collection is not complete for any place or region.

What Can I Do with Baptism Records?

If you find someone in these baptism records you can:

  • Search the collection for every family member, be sure to click the “View” button in the far right column for additional information that’s been transcribed, this often includes records for other family members in this collection
  • Look to see if the record is attached to a family tree at FamilySearch (the pedigree chart icon in the “View” column) and verify any information from that free family tree
