South Carolina Plantations has information for more than 2,000 South Carolina Plantations. “We define a plantation as a large farm on which most of the work was done by slaves. Thus all the plantations we catalog were established before the Civil War.”

This website is searchable by county and then plantation. Information may include the plantation location, history, land, crops, owners, slaves, and references. Some plantations include photos and slave names. is maintained as a public service by SCIWAY, South Carolina’s Information Highway.
