StoryCorps is a non-profit organization whose mission is to freely record, preserve, and share people’s stories to help build and strengthen connections between diverse members of society and help us focus on the common humanity we share.
What is StoryCorps?
StoryCorps is an oral history project and hosts mobile recording booths where people, usually two people, meet and record their conversation about structured topics such as politics, religion, parenthood, race, or daily life and exchange their views on topics with the goal being to learn to listen to different points of view and still show respect for each other.
If you are unable to schedule a visit at a StoryCorps mobile booth, you can download the free StoryCorps app and record your story to be included in the StoryCorps archive.
StoryCorps shares stories on National Public Radio and archives all stories at the Library of Congress. StoryCorps retains intellectual property rights for all stories recorded through their StoryCorps booths and StoryCorps app.
