The State Library of North Carolina and the State Archives of North Carolina have a website, North Carolina Family Records Online, with a Women, Marriage and the Law collection online.
“The materials in the “Women, Marriage and the Law” collection were selected for inclusion in the “Studies in Scarlet” Project, organized and partially funded by the Research Libraries Group. The project created a “virtual collection” of digitized primary and secondary documents valuable for researching the legal, historical, and cultural aspects of marriage and other personal relationships in the United States and the United Kingdom from 1815 to 1914.”
“The North Carolina Digital Collections contain over 90,000 historic and recent photographs, state government publications, manuscripts, and other resources on topics related to North Carolina. The Collections are free and full-text searchable, and bring together content from the State Archives of North Carolina and the State Library of North Carolina.”
